Heritage Q&A with Design Director Sarah Williamson

How did you first get the idea for the Heritage Collection?

I was really inspired to do a casual yet elegant collection – something that felt comfortable yet elevated – for me, that painted a picture of a gorgeous home in the idyllic Cotswalds. That area has such a charming warmth and sophistication that I wanted to capture in these designs.

Can you describe what your creative process was for developing the designs?

I wanted the designs and colors of this collection to capture the feeling of the Cotswalds. The rolling hills, with colorful meadows, and the detailed yet understated elegance of classic architecture in the homes has all been translated into geometric and botanical designs that are perfect for any room setting. The fabrics and trims can be layered together, used to accent another fabric, or of course stand on their own.

What particular design needs do you feel this collection fills?

I feel this collection provides a great mixture of mid to large scale geometrics and botanicals, which coordinate beautifully back to the trimmings. This collection brings a casual elegance to the market, which so many people love.

In your opinion, which pattern do you think is most versatile in this collection?

I think each fabric and trimming stand so well on their own, really reaching into may different aesthetics, but I would have to say pattern 7959 – Catherine is very versatile. You can imagine this applied on a classic, traditional, wooden framed chair or as a gorgeous accent pillow on a contemporary velvet sofa.

How do you envision this collection being styled in a home setting?

I see these fabrics being used throughout a home to really create a feeling of warmth and sophistication. I can see a gorgeous dining set with the geometric embroidery 7958-Ophelia. Stunning drapery panels of botanical 7961-Winifred with accents of T304-Highgrove on the side. The soft, livable colors make each trimming and fabric feel elevated yet relaxed and that is exactly how we want our customer to picture their home.
